Logos, Products and Company Names inspired from Animals

Many companies are named after animals and their logos are inspired from them. This blog post attempts to document as many such logos, products and company names as possible.

The reason behind naming a company or making a logo after an animal is that it leads to better associations and building a good brand identity. People tend to associate masculinity, power and speed with the big cats, eagles, vultures, bulls, crocodiles etc. therefore cars, shoe companies, biscuits encash on their names. Similarly, beauty products are associated with elegance therefore the company Dove does justice to them. I haven't been able to cover all obviously. :P

Lines

Lines that inspire
Lines that make you think
Lines that are stories themselves
Lines that are not forgotten
Lines that say it all.

Self Made

1. Boys and shopping are like the north and north of a magnet.

2. Referring to Ahmedabad and monsoon
Drinking in a dry state like Ahmedabad is prohibited, but now its getting wetter by the day.

3. A life without fun is like Kurkure without masala. (Kurkure- spicy sticks, Fritolay)

4. Stories can be real or imaginary. It depends on how you look at them.

5. People are like stories. With different versions all the time. But the basic gist, remains the same.

From Books, Movies, Poems, Dramas

1. Dew is like diamonds on a cutter's table.

2. What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient...           highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An       idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere.
    (Inception -Movie-2010 -Cobb's dialogue)

3. To not regret loving despite losing everything.
    (Playful Kiss - Korean Drama)

4. Isn't it also that on some fundamental level we find it difficult to understand that other people are         human beings in the same way that we are? We idealize them as gods or dismiss them as animals.
    (Paper Towns- John Green)

5. Form should not be finite but should be amorphous, so that the experience within is loose,                   meandering and multiple.
    (B.V. Doshi, world famous architect)

6.Architecture goes beyond utilitarian needs- passion can create drama out of inert stone, suddenly        you touch my heart...and I say "this is beautiful". That is architecture.
   (Le Corbusier, world famous architect)

7. He stepped down, trying not to look long at her, as if she were the sun,
Yet he saw her, like the sun, even without looking.
    (Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina)

8. One who wants to wear the crown, bears the crown.
One who wishes to wear the crown, must bear its weight.
(The Heirs/ The Inheritors- Korean Drama 2013)

9. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

10. No one can shame you unless you allow it.
(Palace of Illusions - Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni)

Objects/ Products that work on Plunger Action

BASIC PRINCIPLE BEHIND A SYRINGE:

According to Boyle's law, keeping temperature constant, the pressure of a given mass of gas varies inversely with its volume. When the plunger of a syringe is pulled out, The pressure decreases in the syringe leading to an increase in volume . If the syringe is inserted in a liquid, the higher atmospheric pressure forces liquid inside the syringe due to pressure difference. The reverse process happens when the plunger of the syringe is pulled out.

Air filling Pump - Cycle Pump, Balloon Inflator

Threshold

Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don't much care where.
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go.
Alice: So long as I get somewhere.
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.”
- Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland

Threshold, a new beginning, an entrance, all those words were buzzing in my mind for a long time. I tried to co- relate the word with our life and found many similarities. In fact many, many similarities. The word may have different connotations and hold a different significance for people.

Comparing threshold to our life, becoming a teenager, beginning college, becoming someone’s sister in law etc. all are new beginnings for us. I feel that each day of our colourful and sometimes not so colourful life is a threshold. With so many opportunities being thrust at us, we keep on wondering which doorknob to turn and enter. Just like Alice got somewhere after crossing many thresholds, same is with us human beings. Days are also like doors. One day ends and we are at the threshold of another day.

Memories, happy, sad and bittersweet speed through my mind like flashes of lightning. All the numerous thresholds that were crossed, the real and imaginary doors that were stepped into all are being remembered. Oh, that hilarious moment when I actually ran into a glass door and instead of stepping out of the door, the broken glass pieces stepped out of me.

The emergency horns in the flight are blaring. I am standing on the wing of the airplane. We had to evacuate the plane due to some glitches. The next moment would be a threshold, a threshold to be a part of the wind and be a companion of its wanderings. I only have to walk or rather fly long enough.
